Welcome to our Parish website! On behalf of our wonderful St. Nicholas Catholic Community, we extend a sincere welcome to you.
As at its creation in 1887, St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Houston's Third Ward has been a Church, a Home, a symbol of peace, sanctifying thousands of believers.
Our Beloved Parish has over the years remained a source of both connection to God through the Pastoral life of the church and also connection with History.
We are a Parish is a richly blessed with members from different Heritage, backgrounds, cultures and Languages; this uniqueness nourish our Liturgy and our interactions with one another.
“For as the body is one, and has many parts, and all the members of that one body, being many, is one body: so also is Christ 1Corinthians 12”. This passage of scripture guides our Pastoral life here at St Nicholas. We begin our day here in St Nicholas Catholic Church with thirty minutes of Eucharistic Adoration before every Mass. This is to allow Parishioners moment to adore our savior in the Blessed Sacrament.
According to the Code of Canon law “Other members of the Christian faithful, according to circumstances, are also earnestly invited to participate in the liturgy of the hours as an action of the Church”. As a praying community we also pray the psalms together as a community. We would be pleased to have you visit us or have you as our member.
Our Mission: At St Nicholas, we believe that we are guided by the Holy Spirit to celebrate the presence of Jesus Christ in our daily lives; in prayer, in liturgy and in scripture. Joyfully we reach out to others and invite them, to serve and the Lord in a spirit of love and help us in building a community that welcomes and accepts all people as children of God irrespective of race or status. We will always be committed to this mission; we will tend to your pastoral and spiritual needs.
Our various Pastoral ministries are available to cater to your individual and unique gifts in the service of God and His Church.
Once again, we welcome you and we keep you under the patronage of our Mother Mary.
WELCOME AND SEE YOU SOON. GOD BLESS YOU!!
