CALL FOR MEMBERS TO JOIN THE “FRIENDS OF ST. NICHOLAS CHURCH” GROUP
CALL FOR MEMBERS TO JOIN THE “FRIENDS OF ST. NICHOLAS CHURCH” GROUP
On Tuesday, June 13, 2023, the Parish Pastoral Council approved the formation of the “Friends
of St. Nicholas Church” Group within the Parish. This Group will operate under the guidance of
the PPC and will be mainly responsible to raise funds outside the parish confines for current
and future renovation projects of our Historic Church.
Father Ibeh is urging members of the three church communities to join this new Group. At the
outset, we need 15-20 members to undertake the task of researching and putting together the
materials necessary for the Group to go live both on the web and through letters to donors.
The “Friends of St. Nicholas Church” Group will need to accomplish the following in order to go
live:
1. Finalize the governance materials and structure for enactment by the PPC.
2. Create a web page for the Group within the St. Nicholas website.
3. Research and summarize the History of St. Nicholas with pictures for the website
4. Compile a list of renovation items and projects with cost estimates.
5. Research a list of grant sources and potential donors.
6. Write and mail grant and donation letters or engage an entity to send out these
letters on behalf of St. Nicholas.
7. Be prepared to meet with donors seeking clarification or additional information/data.
We need those who can do research on the web, are good writers/communicators, familiar
with grant applications, engineering and construction, or contribute positive to prayerfully
think about and volunteer for this call. In 2023, it is our turn to rise up and do what our
ancestors did 100 years ago to erect this Historic Church. Many of them journeyed over 5 miles
by foot or horse back to participate in this construction. Today, it is our turn to renovate it for
the next generation.
Please call the parish office or Mr. John Kwang (832-275-5401) to join. We seek to start working
on July 15, 2023.
